Essential oils ease the pain....

....of back pain from sleeping with Grandkids!!!  How can two little people take over a king sized bed??  SERIOUSLY!!  I don't know how, but they always manage to do it.  My grandkids look forward to Friday night because that's when they know they can sleep with Mima and Papa.  I wish they could sleep with me every night but my husband won't allow it.  :(  Well, this morning, this is how I found them.  I managed to get out of bed without waking them up.  But let me tell you, it was quite a sight.  I had a foot in my face, a leg under my back, my husband couldn't take it any longer and ended up on the couch and my back was REALLY, REALLY sore!!!  I went into my oil stash and pulled these babies out QUICK!!!
  • Valor to relax my muscles
  • PanAway for the pain
  • Lemongrass for inflammation
  • Peppermint to drive it all in
I felt it working right away and within 20 minutes, my back pain was GONE!!  Bye-Bye!!!  So thankful for these oils and even more thankful that I didn't have to resort to taking a Motrin.  What is your favorite combo for pain?

Grandkids' Favorite YLEOs

Okay guys, here it is....out of the mouth of babes.  These are my grandkids, my sunshine, the apple of my eye, my cuddlebugs, my joy to my sadness, my love bugs, the two people who can turn my frown upside down, the laughter to my tears, my WHY....okay, you get the picture.  :)  They are here telling you like it is...their favorite Young Living Essential Oils and why.
Tristan's is LEMON.  He just loves the scent.  It's invigorating and it gives him energy...not that he needs any more than he has.  :)
Coraline's is PEACE & CALMING or how she calls it...CALM & PEACE.  Like she says, she LOVES it.  It tickles her when her mommy and daddy put it on her BUT the most important reason why is because it helps her sleep all by herself!!  :D
Here's more info on the benefits Lemon and Peace & Calming....

In the news.....AGAIN!

I think this is so awesome!  Young Living EOs have been in the media a few times in the last couple of months.  Okay guys, yes, I am a nurse BUT hey I would rather treat something naturally if I can.  I've seen first hand all the side effects associated with pain medications, anti-emetics, antihistamines, antianxiety, antidepressants, etc.  Don't get me wrong, if I get suffer from a traumatic injury PLEASE take me to the hospital and hook me up with morphine STAT!!  But really, we have taken care of allergies, insomnia, cold sores, back pain, cuts, inflammatory issues, tummy aches, headaches, skin issues, and more!!  Even my husband, who was a total skeptic asks me, "do you have and oil for this, do you have an oil for that?"  :)  And my son, ALWAYS asks me for oils for something from an unexpected zit (they're all unexpected) to an annoying cough.  WHY?  Because he knows they work.  I get so excited about these oils, I want to share them with EVERYONE!

Teething pain

There is absolutely nothing worse than teething pain in babies.  I mean come on...seeing that sweet little bundle of joy crying because of the throbbing pain.  Sure you can load them up with Tylenol, but if there was an alternative, natural way to alleviate the pain for your little one, would you try it?  When my kids were babies, I would try EVERYTHING!!  Well, not husband's grandmother suggested dipping a breadstick in some whiskey.  Hmmm....I'm sure it would work, but I didn't want to take that route.  I wish I had known about essential oils when my kids were little.  It would have helped tremendously.

Okay, so you want to know how to help your little one?  Rubbing Thieves essential oil blend on your babies gum, will not only help alleviate the pain, but your little one will be able to sleep comfortably.  Make sure you heavily dilute Thieves with EVOO or coconut oil, 5:1....test it on yourself first because it contains some hot oils in there.  Your baby will thank you and will be smiling and giggling once again. :)

Thieves contains Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary.
Thieves is a staple in our house.  There are soooo many uses.  It was created based on the research about four thieves in France who covered themselves while covering themselves in some of the essential oils in Thieves when robbing plagued victims.  This blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities and it is highly effective in supporting the immune system.  Here are some uses for Theives:
  • Rub on the bottom of your feet to help fight germs
  • Place on drop on your thumb and press on the roof of your mouth  to help alleviate headaches
  • Use in diffuser to help kill airborne germs, bacteria, mold, etc.
  • Add one drop to honey for sore throats
  • Add a few drops in a capsule with carrier oil to help support immune system
  • Add 2 drops to a wet cloth to your clothes dryer
  • Add a drop to your toothpaste
I'm sure there are more uses, but these are the most common.  Make sure you always dilute with a carrier oil before applying to skin or taking internally.
Well, that about sums it up in a nutshell.  If  you have any questions or would like to know more about essential oils, leave a comment or send me an email:

Sore throat be gone!!!

This evening while doing his kitchen chores, my favorite son says, "hey mom, I have this sore you have any oils for that?"  Sure I do!!  I pulled out my EOPR (which I will be talking about at a later date)to look up a couple of things.  So this is what I did:
  • 1 drop of Thieves
  • 1 drop of Lemon
  • 1 tsp of Honey
Gave him a spoonful of that and told him to swallow slowly.  I also rubbed a couple drops of Purification on the front of his throat.  And as soon as he finished emptying the dishwasher, he said, "hey mom, my sore throat is gone."  I honestly thought I was going to need to give him another dose before he went to bed.  Seriously love these oils and I wish I knew about them earlier.

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum), lemon (Citrus limon), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), Eucalyptus radiata† and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis CT 1,8 cineol).
(Citrus limon)

Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis).

Ingrown toenail......OUCH!!!

Who has ever had an ingrown toenail?  If you have, you know it can get very painful and often ends up infected.  I remember when my second daughter was in 5th grade, she had an ingrown toenail, which got infected and she was in soooo much discomfort.  We did the whole doctor visit, antibiotics, Epson salt soaks, etc.  It took a good two weeks to heal.  Not very fun for a 5th grader whose sport was soccer at the time.

Anyway, I can't begin to tell you how continuously AMAZED I am with essential oils.  I mean, where were they when my children were little ducklings??  Why didn't anybody tell me about them....WHY????  Okay, enough whining...I have to share with you about my granddaughter Coraline.  She's such a sweet little peanut.  She had an ingrown toenail and a few days ago it got infection.  You know, the usual angry red, irritated and yellowish discharge look.  Not a pretty site.  My daughter  Brittany was thinking about taking her to her doctor to get it checked out, but we decided to try essential oils instead.  I applied Thieves and layered it with Lavender for THREE days.  Well, as you can see, the picture speaks for itself.  Coraline is now a happy little camper and she LOVES her oils!!

Don't you just love that face???

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum), lemon (Citrus limon), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), Eucalyptus radiate and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis CT 1,8 cineol).

You have to read this book!!! :)

I just wanted to show you real quick the book that I'm reading.  Now mind you, it will take me a while to get through it because I want to absorb every word that is written and it is THICK....over 800 pages!! I'm not a reader, but this book has got my attention.  If you are into essential oils or are thinking about it, I think it's a great way to educate yourself AND keep as a reference.

Have a great day everyone!!  If you have any questions, shoot me an email or leave a comment!! :)
